HALIFAX: MS WALK
A note from Angela Galipeau our team participated in the MS Walk on Sunday May 26th at the Canada Games Centre. Our team was made up of many people included in this picture are our Travel and Tourism students that were on the team.
Our team was Team Gracie’s Mum. The student members were: Samantha Periard, Shiona Wright, Jackie Pottie-Colp, Courtney Kuhn, Ana Sanchez and Khasrul Kabir.
Our team did amazing, we raised over $3000!! Of course since I have MS, the fact that my students worked so hard to raise the money and gave up a Sunday for the cause means a lot to me!!

Jacob Westcott is twenty-eight years old, a husband, and a father of two who used to be a carpenter from Chester Basin. Brendan Cottreau is twenty-three years old, has a girlfriend and used to be a cook at KFC in Yarmouth. Adam Smith is twenty-six years old, has family in Hubbards and used to be a call center employee as an escalation specialist in Halifax. What do we all have in common? All of us quit our jobs, packed a little bit of our stuff up and moved to Saint John, NB to attend Eastern Trades College. We all realized that there was no room to move up in our jobs and each of us had nearly maxed out the salary that we could make if we continued working where we were. Nova Scotia Community College was a one to two year wait just to get in, but Eastern Trades College got us in for May 2012. Was it hard leaving family and friends behind? Oh yes, but the benefits are well worth it because now we are coming out with not just book knowledge but a lot of hands-on application of that knowledge. We are equipped to return to Nova Scotia to begin our work placements and then work as electricians. We all have the potential to be hired for employment from our placement. Was this time difficult for us? Oh yes, but ask if it was worth it? Definitely!
All three graduates have obtained jobs in their field of study! Congratulations!
