You can receive a $5,000 bursary if you arrive in Canada as a refugee.
We at Eastern College acknowledge the support you need to rebuild your life when you arrive in Canada as a refugee, protected person, or person displaced by war.
Education can tremendously contribute to your future success. Hence, we would like to provide you an opportunity to receive a $5,000 bursary that you can use towards a full-time diploma program at any of our four campuses across Atlantic Canada.
Five bursaries are available.
Terms and Conditions
To be eligible for the Welcome to Canada Bursary, you must be:
A refugee, protected person, or a person displaced by war currently living in Canada or have been granted permanent residency after January 1, 2021 based on the aforementioned reasons
A new student registered at Eastern College for a full-time diploma program that starts between August 1, 2022 and July 31, 2024
Requirements for application:
A one-page essay outlining your goals in Canada (500 words)
The value of this bursary is $5,000.
You will shoulder the cost of all other fees and books.
Award Payments and Conditions
The bursary will be included in your student contract and will be reviewed by our Financial Aid Officer as part of your enrollment application.
If you withdraw from your studies, the value of this bursary will be reduced or cancelled based on standard term withdrawal deadlines.
The bursary has no monetary value other than towards the cost of tuition.
The fiscal status of the bursary will be aligned with the Canadian Income Tax legislation.
You can’t merge this award with any other bursary or program discount.
The application for the Welcome to Canada Bursary will be submitted to Eastern College’s Administrative Team for review. They may request other documents to support your application. You will be notified of your award status within 10 business days upon filing your application. You must report all bursaries to Canada Student Loan or other funding agencies.
