Experience is vital when you are on the hunt for your dream job, and it can be a tricky situation for those who are just finishing school. How do you get the experience that you need to qualify for these positions? We’ve got you covered. Most of our diploma programs come with a field placement so that you can get the working experience you need to qualify for those opportunities.

When you enroll in a diploma program at Eastern, you are assigned to one of our Employment Specialists. They will be there to assist you and guide you throughout your program, as you set out to find and complete your field placement, and even after you have graduated and found employment.

During field placement time, your Employment Specialist will welcome you to field placement orientation, which is a presentation to get you ready for your upcoming placement. You will discuss what a field placement is, what you can expect from the process, and how to prepare to successfully complete your field placement.

Field placements provide the opportunity for students to broaden their skills through on-the-job training. They are able to gain industry experience, improve their employability, network with professionals in their field, as well as completing the academic requirements for their program. During field placement orientation, your Employment Specialist will provide you with a list of prospective employers who host interns from your specific program, as well as a form with very specific questions on it. This form is to ensure that the perfect match is being made between intern and employer.

Once your field placement Orientation is complete, your Employment Specialist will book a one-on-one meeting with you to discuss the documentation required, as well as your preferred employers. Our Employment Specialists are extremely supportive during field placement time and are available to answer any questions you may have. They will assist you with securing your host, and will provide you with all of the necessary information for that host so that you may begin your placement.

After successfully completing your field placement, you will again meet with your Employment Specialist. It is during this time that they will review the employer evaluation, and ask what your future plans are. Our one-on-one job placement assistance begins here. A separate appointment will be made so that you and your Employment Specialist may begin the process of finding you your dream job!
