Halifax, NS; Eastern College is proud to announce the launch of its brand-new Data Analysis and AI Specialist (DAAS) diploma program taught through Remote Delivery. DAAS provides a career-relevant solution to the industry’s skills gap in data and AI, preparing students to succeed in one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide.

Spanning 61 weeks, including an eight-week internship, the DAAS program equips students with in-demand skills to help organizations apply data insights and artificial intelligence to real-world business challenges. Graduates will enter the workforce with both technical expertise and hands-on experience valued by employers.

Program highlights include:

  • CompTIA DataX certification preparation – a recognized credential that adds career value and employer trust.
  • Machine Learning emphasis – one-third of the program focuses on applying machine learning to big data analytics.
  • Capstone projects with real-world data – students graduate with portfolio-ready projects that employers appreciate.
  • Internship component – hands-on industry experience that builds employability.

Eastern College is also introducing a more compact 45-week Data Analyst (DA) diploma program for students who want to focus on foundational data analysis and visualization skills without the additional AI specialization.

Jason Eckert, Dean of Technology at Eastern College, emphasized the impact of both programs: “The fields of data analysis and artificial intelligence are reshaping every industry — from healthcare and finance, to education and beyond. We designed our Data Analyst (DA) and Data Analysis and AI Specialist (DAAS) programs to equip students with the practical skills and strategic thinking required to thrive in these rapidly evolving sectors. By aligning our curriculum with industry needs, we are preparing graduates not just for today’s job market, but for the future of intelligent decision-making.”

DAAS program graduates are positioned for careers such as Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, AI Specialist, and Machine Learning Engineer.
