August 25th, 2020

Halifax, NS – Eastern College announces the launch of its new IT Systems and Security Administrator diploma program.

Organizations across the world are continuing to see a strong demand for Information Technology professionals who also possess the cyber-security skills needed to address the world’s growing problems surrounding data theft and other security breaches.

To meet this demand, Eastern College has developed a new IT Systems and Security Administrator (ITSSA) diploma program. This new ITSSA program will equip graduates with the hands-on knowledge required to configure, manage and secure computer systems and networks within organizations across a wide variety of different industry sectors.

“Eastern College is committed to preparing our students for the constantly evolving technology demands of today’s companies and organizations”, said Stuart Bentley, President Eastern College. “We want to ensure our students are equipped with the newest technology skills that will prepare them for the needs of the market and better position them for career success.”

Through this program students will gain hands-on training through a 16-week field placement, as well as through the configuration, management and securing of key industry technologies, including Cisco routers and switches, Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows Server systems, Linux server systems, the Microsoft Exchange Server email system, as well as the Microsoft SQL Server database platform. Additionally, students will learn how to mitigate and respond to cyber-security incidents, perform vulnerability assessments and execute penetration tests that audit the security mechanisms deployed within an organization. The program will also provide students with 10 exam vouchers to write certifications they wish to pursue.
