Training Funds Available for Continuing Care Assistants

April 20th, 2023

HALIFAX – To meet the growing needs of the province, the Government of Nova Scotia’s Department of Senior and Long-Term Care has committed to funding the training of Continuing Care Assistants. Students will receive free tuition while they train for a rewarding and in-demand career in the healthcare field. Eastern College’s Continuing Care Assistant program is well suited to training students, as it equips them with the knowledge and skills they need to make a difference in the lives of their clients each and every day. Over the course of 44 weeks, students learn about concepts such as Body Mechanics, Palliative Care, and Care Setting Management. Students also complete an 11-week internship so that they graduate with practical, hands-on skills and experience.

“We’re committed to meeting the needs of the province of Nova Scotia by offering our high-quality training to students pursuing careers as Continuing Care Assistants”, said Eastern College President Stuart Bentley. “Training is now more accessible and students will now be able to take advantage of free tuition and our track record of placing job-ready graduates in rewarding and critical careers in healthcare.”

In addition, the Continuing Care Assistant program at Eastern College offers students the flexibility they need. With classes starting every month, students can begin their training at a time that is convenient for them. Space is limited, and students are able to take advantage of free tuition until March 31st, 2024. To qualify for free tuition, one must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident.
