Qualifying Areas of Study for International Students
International students who graduate from Eastern College in New Brunswick are eligible to apply to a new immigration stream under the Provincial Nominee Program for their work permit. This will allow them to continue to live and work in New Brunswick as they wait for permanent residency.
As an international student for the NB PNP-(New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program) you must be present in person and attend classes on campus for these courses. These programs are not offered Online. An Online study option is available however the online program will not qualify for the PGWP (Post Graduation Work Permit) or PNP (Provincial Nominee Program).
This program is focused on specific occupations and Eastern College is proud to offer the majority of the qualifying areas of study that include a pathway to these targeted occupations.
Targeted occupations that qualify students for this new work permit program include:
Accounting and Payroll Administrator
Advanced Systems Management and Cybersecurity
Child & Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker
Medical Administrative Specialist
Video Game Development (Moncton Only)
Before submitting your contact information, please make sure that you meet the English Proficiency Requirements which are as follows:
English Language Proficiency Requirement
Applicants from countries where English is not the only language of common usage will be required to either submit proof of English proficiency as measured by one of the following recognized tests: TOEFL/IELTS/CAEL/MELAB.
The following are the required language proficiency test scores for all Eastern College Diploma programs:
TOEFL Paper-based test – Minimum score of 550 required
TOEFL Internet-based test – Overall minimum score of 80 required, with minimum scores of 20 in Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking.
IELTS Academic Training – Minimum overall band of 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5)
CAEL – Minimum overall score of 60
University of Michigan English Language Institute (MELAB) – Minimum score 77
Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP – General Test) – Minimum score Level 8
Duolingo English Test – Minimum score of 105
NOTE: You will be required to provide supporting documentation of your English Proficiency as a 1st step, so if you do not meet the above criteria, we encourage you to work on setting up your English Proficiency Testing before submitting an application with us.
